After quite a few weeks of non-stop content, we have a bit of a light week ahead of us. Below, we share the best new weekend movies to watch in theaters (and available on streaming services( that you won’t want to miss.

We can all take a collective sigh of relief right now as we are heading into a slow week in the theaters as well as streaming platforms. We have a few new series releasing this week on Netflix with Locke & Key season 3 and Never Have I Ever season 3 and that’s a big reason why you don’t see a huge release in films from them.

Weekend movies to watch (and stream) today

  • Beast, Theaters
  • Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, Theaters
  • Orphan: First Kill, Paramount+
  • Get Away if You Can, VOD

What is the biggest release of the week? Idris Elba fighting off a monster lion in Beast. When I saw the trailer ahead of Thor: Love and Thunder, I let out one big audible sigh because I love Elba and want so much for him, but this looks brutal. I hope it succeeds for his case, but this movie seems like an easy wait-till Redbox scenario.

Paramount+ is honing in on that original content with back-to-back weeks of releasing original films (last week with Secret Headquarters) with Orphan: First Kill. The film is a prequel to the 2009 film Orphan and the trailer looked incredibly weird and, quite frankly, creepy. The original was a solid film with massive box office success, so it’ll be interesting if this can match that love from a critical standpoint. With the lack of Horror content in recent times, and people can watch this at home, I expect this to be one of the most watched films on any streaming platform this weekend.

What will you be watching this weekend? Will you enjoy a movie in theaters or streaming?
