It’s not just a beloved puppet that comes to life in September! The classic film, Pinocchio is too thanks to a live-action remake from Disney+. The musical adventure premieres on Disney+ Day, Thursday, Sept. 8, 2022.

The movie is directed, co-written, and produced by Robert Zemeckis, with Chris Weitz serving as a writer and producer as well. Andrew Miano and Derek Hogue also produce, with Jack Rapke, Jacqueline Levine, Jeremy Johns, and Paul Weitz executive producing.

The Disney classic was first shared with audiences as an animated musical fantasy in 1940, based on the 1883 Italian children’s novel The Adventures of Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi. It was only Walt Disney’s second animated feature film, made after Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

There’s been so many remakes of Disney movies in the last few years, and it doesn’t look like it’s going to stop any time soon. While not all of them hit the mark, there’s a few good ones out there. Based on the trailer, I think Pinocchio is definitely going to pull at our heartstrings (pun intended!).

So who’s going to voice the cute wooden puppet hoping to become a real boy? Scroll down below to find out!

Who voices Pinocchio in the live-action Disney+ Pinocchio movie?

Young actor Benjamin Evan Ainsworth will play the beloved character! The 13-year-old British star landed his first major role as Miles in Netflix’s The Haunting of Bly Manor. After that, he starred in Disney film Flora & Ulysses. And now, he’s on to his next major role, this time using his vocal talents to bring Pinocchio to life!

Joining the teen in the CGI retelling is Tom Hanks as Gepetto, the woodcarver who builds and treats Pinocchio as if he were his real son. Joseph Gordon-Levitt voices Jiminy Cricket, who will be the puppet’s guide and “conscience.” Cynthia Erivo plays the Blue Fairy, Keegan-Michael Key is “Honest” John, Luke Evans as The Coachman, and Lorraine Bracco will be a new character, the Seagull.

The story will follow woodcarver Geppetto who longs for a child. When he wishes on a star for Pinocchio to become a real boy, the Blue Fairy grants his wish. A very happy Gepetto raises him like he’s his own son. But if the puppet hopes to become a real boy, then he needs to learn to be selfless, brave, and true.
