There’s lots of great documentaries out there – whether their focus is on current celebrities, stars from the past, or even soccer! FX‘s new docuseries, Welcome to Wrexham, follows the events of the Welsh soccer team Wrexham A.F.C., as told by their owners–actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

The show premiered on Wednesday, Aug. 24 with the first two episodes. There’s a total of 18 installments, with two new ones airing weekly on FX. If you miss it on television, then don’t worry! You can also stream new episodes on Hulu the next day.

The series is produced by Boardwalk Pictures. If you haven’t checked it out yet, here’s what you can expect to see!

What is Welcome to Wrexham about on FX?

According to FX, we see Reynolds and McElhenney navigate their way through running the third oldest professional football club in the world. The docuseries tracks the dreams and worries of Wrexham, a working-class town in North Wales, as two Hollywood stars take ownership of the town’s historic yet struggling football team.

Just recently in 2020, the two actors teamed up and purchased the team in hopes of turning the club into an underdog story. But there’s one worry, neither Reynolds nor McElhenney have experience in soccer (or football as it’s called in the U.K.!) or working with each other even. The two get a crash course in football club ownership, and learn just how much the team and town are counting on the two talents to bring some hope and change to a community that could use it.
