Where was Tell Me Lies filmed: Is Baird College a real school?
By Sabrina Reed
The first three episodes of Tell Me Lies has dropped on Hulu. The dramatic series, based on the book of the same name by Carola Lovering, follows the toxic romance between Lucy Albright and Stephen DeMarco.
The two met in Lucy’s freshman year at Baird College as Stephen was heading into his junior year. As such, viewers have been following along with their social and academic journeys on campus. However, as is the case for many film and TV projects, the question of whether production took place in the actual setting showcased has come up.
Does Tell Me Lies really take place in New York? Is Baird College a real school? Here’s what we know!
Tell Me Lies filming locations
No, the series wasn’t filmed in New York. In fact, production wasn’t even in the north east. According to The Cinemaholic, Tell Me Lies was actually filmed in the south, specifically the Atlanta metro area.
Of course, this throws into question whether or not Baird College even exists. It doesn’t, at least not anymore. The institution opened in 1885 and operated for over a decade in Clinton, Missouri before closing. It was an all-female college.
The campus in show belongs to Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Georgia. It’s a private women’s liberal arts college that the show has fashioned into a co-ed institution. The college is the picturesque backdrop for the drama set to unfold in the Hulu series that’s going to have us gripped into October.
