Warning: This article may contain spoilers about The Challenge: USA. If you weren’t able to watch the season 1 finale, head over to Paramount+ to catch up with all the latest.

The Challenge: USA officially came to an end after eleven brutal weeks of nothing but physically demanding challenges and mentally exhausting puzzles.

Though there were plenty of competitors who we believed would dominate these challenges to secure the grand prize (a share of $500,000), the painfully disappointing season finale proved otherwise, as not only did several competitors bow out of the final competition, but a few competitors appeared to be on the short end of alleged rigging and/or confusing last-minute rules.

Up until the season finale, The Challenge: USA was a very entertaining Wednesday night watch. But with the CBS reality series finishing on a weak note, can fans expect another season?

Here’s everything we know so far.

Is The Challenge: USA renewed for season 2?

Currently, The Challenge: USA has yet to be renewed for a sophomore season.

We believe that part of the reason why there haven’t been any updates is that it may be too soon to announce another season. Between executives calculating viewership figures or figuring out a budget for season 2, it’s a bit too early for anyone to know where the fate of this series lies.

Aside from the timing of a second season, our gut leads us to believe that another season of The Challenge: USA hasn’t been green-lit because of the controversy surrounding this season’s production team.

From Desi Williams and Angela Rummans being victims of unfair/unexplained rules causing them to be disqualified from the final to alumni speaking out against the many instances of negligence done by Challenge officials, fans are upset that this season was heavily manipulated, removing the “real” from reality series. Because of this, many audiences hinted at their decision to not give this series support going forward.

“the challenge usa is so bad I said it once and I’ll say it ten million more times I’ve never seen so many ppl QUIT during a final bffr,” one Twitter user stated, while another held the same sentiments, saying, “As a longtime fan of THE CHALLENGE, the final of THE CHALLENGE: USA was an utter embarrassment.”

James Wallington, a reality star who competed this season, even took to his Twitter to allude to his disdain for the show.

“This final is indicative to how the entire experience was for so many of us. I’ll say that much.”

Longtime fans and past players coming forward with their disapproval of The Challenge: USA spell disaster for the longevity of the 2022 title. But what about MTV’s The Challenge, a.k.a. the network that started it all?

Will The Challenge return to MTV?

Fans may have suffered in watching that season finale. However, those frowns will soon turn upside-down because season 38 of The Challenge is heading our way in October 2022.

Beginning Wednesday, Oct. 12, fans will get to see some of their favorite competitors give it all they got to fight to the end. From hall brawls to free falls, we’re sure this new season will have all the classic competitions and so, so much more.

Hopefully, The Challenge: Ride or Dies will be a great substitution for The Challenge: USA season 2. Guess we’ll have to wait a little longer to see what’s in store for both of these amazing shows.
