Before you head out to theaters to catch Pearlthe latest horror movie, learn what it’s rated and why. You and the family may be horror fans (and we are, too, here at Hidden Remote), but not all movies in the genre are family friendly. Even if everyone at home is over the age of 17-years old, we all have different triggers. Some horror fans may prefer ghost features over gore, for example. That said, here’s why Pearl is rated R.

Mia Goth returns as Pearl, the villainous character from Ti West’s slasher movie, X, released earlier this year. Both of these movies were shot back-to-back, but fans weren’t aware until after was released. In this movie, a prequel to X, we’ll see what drove Pearl mad and learn her story.

West’s franchise won’t stop with the release of this prequela sequel to X, titled MaXXXine, is currently in development. As soon as we learn more about it, we’ll update our readers. In the meantime, let’s learn more about Pearl‘s rating.

Why is the movie Pearl rated R?

If you watched and enjoyed it, expect more of the same and then some! This means that if was too much for you, things won’t get any better in the prequel. On the contrary, from the teaser alone, it looks like Pearl may top the violence and gore.

The movie is rated are for strong violence, gore, strong sexual content, and graphic nudity. Children, look away! Parents, get a babysitter for this one. Teens, ask your parents for permission…and the answer is no.

A horror movie that is a lot more appropriate for sensitive eyes, is Goodnight Mommy now streaming on Prime Video. I’m using the term “horror” lightly here. While it’s not the best movie we will see this Halloween season, it’s worth watching since we can stream it from the comfort of our own home.

Will you be seeing Pearl in theaters? Do any of the reasons the movie is rated are for a big no-no for you when it comes to the horror genre?
