Haunted Mansion release date, synopsis, and more

Any Disney fan is sure to know the 2003 film, The Haunted Mansion. As always, Eddie Murphy nailed his role in the movie, which focused on a realtor (Murphy) who along with his family become trapped in a – you guessed it – haunted mansion. This was a really popular movie, and now a second one, Haunted Mansion, is coming our way next year!

The original film and the reboot are both inspired by Walt Disney’s theme park attraction of the same name. Isn’t that such a unique idea? Just a few months before the release of first film, the very first Pirates of the Caribbean movie debuted in theaters. And all of us hardcore Disney fans know the massively successful franchise was also based on a Disney theme park attraction!

There’s not much we know yet about Haunted Mansion, the production company is staying pretty tight-lipped on details. But here’s what we know about the new Walt Disney Studios movie so far!

Haunted Mansion release date

The supernatural horror comedy film will be released August 11, 2023 in theaters. It’s not clear yet if and when it will be streamed on Disney+, but there’s a very high chance the production will be added to the platform eventually. Haunted Mansion was originally scheduled to be coming out earlier on March 10, 2023.

According to Collider, the official synopsis reads:

"A single mom named Gabbie hires a tour guide, a psychic, a priest, and a historian to help exorcise their newly bought mansion; after discovering it is inhabited by ghosts."
