25-year-old model, media personality, and socialite Hailey Bieber has generally been a private person. She doesn’t talk much about her personal life, and a part of that is due to the unrelenting harassment she’s received from fans of her husband, singer Justin Bieber, and his ex, singer and actress Selena Gomez, over the years. But now, she’s addressing the issue in a new podcast episode.

Justin and Gomez dated on and off again from 2010 to 2017. Hailey and Justin were together the first time in 2016, before breaking up later that year. In 2018, the couple got back together following Justin and Gomez’s brief reconciliation, then final split. Justin and Hailey were engaged then married shortly after they got back together that year.

To the outside, aka the fans, it looked like the events happened quickly and there are misconceptions, said Hailey in the podcast. A big misunderstanding is that Justin was with Hailey while dating Gomez at the same time. During the time it happened and for years after, those unrelenting fans sent online messages and comments to Hailey, thinking she stole Justin from the Disney star.

“When him and I ever started like hooking up or like anything of that sort, he was not ever in a relationship, ever at any point,” said Hailey. The media personality said she’s talked to Selena since marrying Justin. “That’s why I’m like it’s all respect. It’s all love.”

Though Gomez’s name is never referenced, not even once, everyone knows who the host and interviewee are talking about. Celebrities do podcasts all the time.
