It was a happy occasion today on The Bold and the Beautiful as Ridge and Taylor celebrated their reunion. However, heartbreak came around the corner for Brooke like a thief hellbent on stealing her future. She’d spent nearly the whole episode trying to make it to Aspen before Ridge made a decision that could change their lives forever. But, Brooke was too late!

In between kisses and flirting, the newly cemented couple shared their joy with Steffy and Thomas as they relayed the events that led to their decision to give their romantic relationship another try. While that was good news to their kids’ ears, it stung for Donna and Eric. Those two have been and likely always will be Team Brooke and had been adamant that Thomas not count out Brooke and Ridge’s love for one another.

Seemingly, the notion that Ridge would choose Taylor over Brooke just wasn’t comprehensible to them and the fact that he did left them shocked and confused. So far Ridge is sticking by his decision, but I do wonder how long that’s going to last considering the whodunit plot surrounding the CPS call still hasn’t be resolved.

Here’s the full breakdown of what happened today on the soap!

The Bold and the Beautiful recap (Oct. 10)

The sweeping, romantic beauty of Aspen was on full display today as Ridge and Taylor recommitted themselves to each other. They wasted no time stealing kisses, holding hands, and staying hugged up on each other. Whether they were walking or sitting, they made sure to touch at all times. Their happiness practically beamed through the screen and so did Steffy’s when she came upon them by the brook.

Ridge and Taylor told her that they plan on spending the rest of their lives together which is what she’s been praying to hear since she was a child. The trio embraced in an adorable three way hug that showcased the family’s togetherness. Of course, they had to give Thomas the good news as well and they video called him to fill him in.

Prior to the call, he’d been in a back-and-forth with Donna and his grandfather. It wasn’t argumentative, but it also wasn’t pleasant either. Lines had clearly been drawn in the sand. At first, Thomas had attempted to be respectful of Donna’s feelings concerning the pending dissolution of her sister’s marriage, but he also didn’t mince words.

He thinks his father is finally coming to his senses and that their family is finally being healed. When Donna accused him of not thinking much of Brooke, Thomas agreed. Eric admonished him for it, but Thomas was right. He shouldn’t have to lie about his feelings when it comes to his father’s wife. To be fair, it’s not like Brooke tip toes around how she feels about him either.

Eric tried to get Thomas to temper his hopes as did Donna. All three of them know how this goes. Ridge walks away from Brooke, but he always finds his way back. Thomas, however, is convinced that this time is going to be different. It might just be since it was Ridge that insisted the call he, Taylor, and Steffy placed to his son be a video call so he could see with his own eyes that his parents are reunited.

When Thomas informed Eric and Donna of his parents’ relationship status they were dismayed. They couldn’t believe it which is understandable…if you don’t know about the CPS call. That’s not to say that Ridge’s feelings for Taylor aren’t real or that he’s simply running away from Brooke instead of truly confronting her about what happened, but it does play a significant part.

That’s why, when Douglas used the voice manipulator app on his phone to make it sound like his great grandfather was granting permission for him not to do his homework, I sat up at attention. Thomas’ reaction to his son’s use of the app was particularly interesting. He was both bothered and annoyed. It was obvious they’ve had more than one conversation about Douglas’ behavior regarding the app.

To be honest, the scene has me comfortable ruling out Thomas being the one who made the complaint to Child Protective Services. He doesn’t like that app and, so far, Douglas is the only who uses it which means my somewhat farfetched theory that Douglas called CPS isn’t so farfetched after all.

I’m definitely going to be keeping an eye on anymore clues that it was Thomas’ son that called the authorities. If he did, the next big question is why. But first we’ll be contending with Brooke’s arrival in Aspen. Ridge chose Taylor but that doesn’t mean Brooke isn’t going to fight for her marriage. In fact, she told Ridge that she didn’t care about any promises he made to Taylor because he can walk them back.

It’s not going to be that easy this time though. Ridge promised Steffy that he’d protect her mother’s heart. He affirmed that promise to Taylor, too. On the side of the mountain, he told Taylor she makes him a better man. For weeks, even months, Ridge has been asserting that he wants to do right by his family. He’s cried about it and apologized for all the pain he’s put them through.

Much of that pain has to do with how he mishandled his relationship with Brooke. She’s not a sore spot, she’s a central part of their heartache. And, he’s already said that he’s been selfish in his decision making. While all the power lies in Ridge’s hands, he’s very aware of how fragile this situation is for everyone. Add that on top of the betrayal he feels that Brooke isn’t aware of and the odds are stacked quite high against her.

Time will tell if Ridge stands by Taylor and honors everything he said to her. I sure hope he does, but “destiny” has ruined their road back together at every chance. It’s up to him to make a change. Until next time, Bold fans. Stay beautiful!
