At the end of September, fans of late night host Trevor Noah were in for a surprise when the talent announced he would be leaving The Daily Show on Comedy Central. Though his exit still hasn’t happened and he said it’s not instant, we’re wondering when his last episode will be. And now, we have the answer.

The South African personality revealed the news at the taping of his Sept. 29, 2022 show. From the sounds of it, he himself is ready to move on. His statement hints that he’d like to return to standup comedy.

"I spent two years in my apartment, not on the road, and when I got back out there, I realized there’s another part of my life out there that I want to carry on exploring. I miss learning other languages. I miss going to other countries and putting on shows."

When is Trevor Noah’s last episode of The Daily Show?

Noah’s final episode on The Daily Show is set for Thursday, Dec. 8, TVLine reports. A week leading up to the date, the show will be celebrating some of his greatest moments during his tenure as host for the last seven years.

Comedy Central still hasn’t chosen a new personality to take over, but promises the news show “will embark on a reinvention as it has done so successfully in the past,” according to TVLine. New episodes will return Tuesday, Jan. 17 following Noah’s exit.

The half-hour series first started in July 1996 with host Craig Kilborn. Jon Stewart took a seat behind the desk from January 1999 to 2015, before Noah stepped in on Sept. 28, 2015.
