Want another murder mystery to add to your watchlist? The teen mystery-drama One of Us is Lying just premiered its second season on the streamer, Peacock.

The show’s cast includes Annalisa Cochrane as Addy Prentiss, Chibuikem Uche as Cooper Clay, Marianly Tejada as Bronwyn Rojas, Cooper van Grootel as Nate Macauley, Barrett Carnahan as Jake Riordan (season 1, recurring season 2), Jessica McLeod as Janae Matthews, Mark McKenna as Simon Kelleher (season 1, guest season 2), Melissa Collazo as Maeve Rojas, Bronwyn’s younger sister.

The streaming TV series, based on the 2017 novel of the same name written by Karen M. McManus, was optioned as a pilot by NBC after being on the New York Times bestseller list for 6 weeks. The show takes place at a Bayview High and the story surrounds what happened when five students who walk into detention and only four make it out alive. It’s up to the others to find out how that student was murdered and who has something to hide.

It’s great to hear that this show already had a following and audience before it went to the small screen and in conjunction with its successful first season, this is a show that you definitely want to check out but is this show worth viewing for younger audiences? Read below to find out.

One of Us is Lying age rating explained

This Peacock original is geared towards older teenagers and holds a MPAA rating of TV-MA. With that in mind, be prepared for storylines involving grief and death, abuse, and other unsettling topics. Some thematic elements include  alcohol consumption, sexual content and sensuality as well as strong language used by the main cast throughout the show.

One of Us is Lying follows a murder-mystery storyline that takes place within a high school friend group. Which means you’ll encounter some violence, instances of betrayal and teen cyberbullying, and of course, murder-related imagery in your viewing of the show. Viewers over the age of 15 should feel free to watch this show but to also be aware of the aforementioned elements.

This show does offer a ton of twists and turns as well as the chance to see characters in the story evolve from the first season to the next.
