The Peripheral cast: Who stars in the new Prime Video series?

New Prime Video drama The Peripheral is taking us into a future world on Oct. 21. The new sci-fi series is created by Scott Smith, with Westworld creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy serving as executive producers.

The show, which will consist of eight episodes, centers around Flynne and Burton Fisher. The siblings live in a small town in the Blue Ridge Mountains in the year 2032. To help make some extra money to keep up with their sick mother’s medical bills, the two play simulations, or Sims. When Burton has the chance to try out a new Sim, Flynne is actually the one who plays it pretending to be her brother.

And she’s about to discover there’s so much more to this beta test than she thought. The seemingly virtual reality-like world is set in London, with Flynne tasked with breaking into a corporation called the Research Institute to steal a valuable secret, according to Prime Video. But in reality, we’re going to be taken even farther into the future as the Sim is actually a very real future in the year 2099.

When Flynne finds out about the important secret, she and her family become in danger. In Future London, she meets Wilf who may be the key to unlocking the mystery she now faces. In the present, Flynne, her brother, and his former military unit will have to work together to face the forces sent from the future who are trying to kill them, and who won’t give up until they “reclaim the vital secret Flynne stole,” according to Prime Video.
