What is the new FOX series Alert starring Scott Caan about?

A new police procedural starring Dania Ramirez and Scott Caan is joining FOX‘s lineup next year! Alert is set to premiere Sunday, Jan. 8, 2023 on the channel following that night’s Sunday Night Football NFL game.

While the pilot premieres on Sunday, the second episode airs the next day on Monday, Jan. 9 at 9 p.m. ET. This will be the show’s regular timeslot going forward.

Joining the two actors onscreen are Adeola Role, Ryan Broussard, and Graham Verchere. Executive producer John Eisendrath serves as showrunner, with  Jamie Foxx and Datari Turner also taking on EP duties.

What is the new FOX series Alert about?

According to FOX, the upcoming show is a “character-driven” story that centers around the Missing Persons Unit (MPU) at the Philadelphia Police Department. We’re going to be introduced to police officer Nikki Batista who is the head of the MPU. Six years ago, her son went missing and he’s still not found. But her ex-husband Jason Grant shows up with a proof-of-life photo of their missing boy. Is it really him? That’s the question the two parents will have to face.

The procedural drama will feature a “heart-pounding, life-or-death search for a missing person” in each episode, while Nikki and Jason try to find out the truth about the person claiming to be their long-lost son, FOX shares. The story will bring the two main characters “gut-wrenching heartache and heart-pounding joy.”

We don’t have a trailer just yet, but the broadcast company did share a quick 16-second preview of what’s to come. As we get closer to the release date, I’m sure we’ll get more information! Check out the video below:
