Lamborghini: The Man Behind the Legend is a brand new film from Lionsgate that will hit theaters on November 18, 2022. We sat with star Frank Grillo and writer/director Bobby Moresco to discuss the film.
Lamborghini: The Man Behind the Legend tells the life story of the founder of Lamborghini, Ferruccio Lamborghini. The movie was written and directed by Bobby Moresco and stars Frank Grillo, Eliana Jones, and Mira Sorvino.
While the film can sometimes feel like your prototypical biopic, it never loses your interest. Once we are introduced to older Ferruccio (Grillo), the movie starts to pick up. I was extremely fascinated to see the story of Ferruccio because you learn that he was so much more than just the “Lamborghini” owner. He had so much already but continued to want for more. It’s structured rather well by writer Bobby Moresco because it fits that chronological order that doesn’t lose sight of the story. Grillo is as outstanding as Ferruccio Lamborghini in what is his best career performance. The set, production, and cars make this movie one fun ride.
Hidden Remote sat down with writer/director Bobby Moresco and the film’s star, Frank Grillo, to discuss Lamborghini: The Man Behind the Legend.

Hidden Remote: What attracted you to the role of Mr. Lamborghini?
Frank Grillo: I’m Italian, and to go and play real-life Italian icon, you know, that’s a big deal.
HR: What about this story made you want to write and direct it?
Bobby Moresco: The project was brought to me to see if I was interested in doing the movie. Of course, I thought about doing a movie in Italy about Lamborghini, and who doesn’t want to do that? I said yes, and we made the deal. I spent about six months researching between Italy and meeting the family. Through the course of the research, there was a story worthwhile. It wasn’t what others thought it might be.
HR: What was something that might have shocked you or surprised you to learn about Mr. Lamborghini?
Grillo: I’ve said it before that he was a very wealthy industrialist before he started this company, you know, a self-made man, He was a driven guy, and he had the tractor company, and then he had the heating and air conditioning company, and he was, the guy was set um, and then he had this meeting with Ferrari, and it changed the course of his life.
