Strange World movie cast: Who stars in the animated movie?

Strange World is finally about to receive the praise it very much so deserves when it releases in theaters on Wednesday, Nov. 23, and we couldn’t be any more excited!

The film is going to be such an important watch for audiences worldwide, as it features an openly-gay male lead at the center of it all. This character navigates all of his issues regardless of anything that is thrown his way and seeing him overcome such things is going to make him a role model for young children and adults everywhere.

"Strange World chronicles the legendary Clades, mainly Searcher Clade who has always been a farmer and has never had the bravery of his family of explorers. As they are forced to tackle their latest and most crucial mission, they must rely on each other and are forced to put away their differences while in the uncharted and treacherous land of Avalonia."

Voicing the role of our main character Ethan Clade is Only Murders in the Building star Jaboukie Young-White. As you may have expected, White is just as thrilled as we are to voice this revolutionary character.

“I don’t think it really hits you until it’s out in the world and you see how much it means to people,” White told Variety. “It’s beautiful to think about. It’s gorgeous.”

White is joined by The Inspection actress Gabrielle Union, who will voice Meridian Clade, and Ambulance star Jake Gyllenhaal, who will voice the role of Ethan’s father, Searcher Clade.

In addition to White, Union, and Gyllenhaal, the cast of Strange World features Dennis Quaid as Jaeger Clade and esteemed Hollywood actress Lucy Liu, who will voice the character Callisto Mal.

The film comes from co-directors Don Hall and Qui Nguyen. Nguyen also serves as the lead writer for the feature and he spoke to ComicBook about the inspiration behind the powerful script.

"We’ve all grown up going, ‘Hey, I’m going to be nothing like my dad,’ to only discover that we’re a lot like our parents. That is something that we take very personally as well, but also the big difference is we now get to celebrate that part of ourselves that is like our fathers. That natural story moment of, hey dad, I’m not going to be what you want me to be. I need to cut my own path. That’s something that we’ve all grown through too. Being able to take these three things that you think are diametrically opposed and seeing how you can put them together, it’s a gift that we get to explore as storytellers."
