It wouldn’t be Christmas without the tree lighting at the Rockefeller Center in New York City! Do you agree? It’s an exciting part of the holiday season, and 2022 marks 90 years of partaking in the holiday tradition.

The very first time the Rockefeller Christmas tree was brought in was in 1931 during the Great Depression. But it wasn’t until two years later that a tree-lighting ceremony actually happened. This year, the event will see an 82-foot tall Norway Spruce that will be decorated with more than 50,000 multi-colored LED lights and a Swarovski star right at the top!

Of course seeing the tree lit up and sparkling in the night is the most important part of the event. But there will also be musical guests and fun performances during the special!

Those include Alicia Keys, Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani, The Muppets of Sesame Street, Jimmie Allen, David Foster and Katharine McPhee, and more. The Radio City Rockettes will bring their dancing skills to the stage, with Amy Poehler and Maya Rudolph delivering a special bit.

There’s lots of exciting things happening that you don’t want to miss! So where can you watch the special? We’ve got the answer for you below!
