Which underwater beast will Jason Statham face this time? According to Movie Web, the second movie will follow The Trench, a novel by the same author who wrote the 1997 novel Meg: A Novel of Deep Terror. That said, we have a pretty good idea it will be about.

The Trench picks up a few years after the events from the first book. A research team explores the Mariana Trench, where the megalodon was found, and discovers another prehistoric creature, the Kronosaurus. Of course, this is what the book follows, so we expect the movie to somewhat use this as a guide.
