Criminal Minds: Evolution premiered on Thanksgiving day with two episodes to start off the Paramount+ series for its 10-episode season. With new episodes coming every Thursday, we’re in for a treat as we follow along with our favorite characters we have come to know and love. But will everyone appear? Notably, does Spencer Reid appear in the series?

So far, we have gotten to see the familiar faces of David Rossi, Emily Prentiss, Tara Lewis, JJ Jareau, Luke Alves, and Penelope Garcia. We also met some new faces, including Deputy Director Doug Bailey and Tara’s new love interest, Rebecca.

After getting familiar with where they are in their personal lives in addition to their newest case, of course we notice when others are not around. Not only are we missing Agent Matthew Simmons, but another familiar face has been absent.

Namely, Matthew Gray Gubler’s Spencer Reid is not appearing in new episodes of Criminal Minds: Evolution. He was a staple on the show since Season 1 of the original series back in 2005.

Can you see Spencer Reid in the new Criminal Minds series?

But since the news of the reboot, he has not been present for the new iteration of the Criminal Minds universe. In the premiere episode, we learned that Reid is on a classified assignment.

Showrunner Erica Messer said in an interview with TVLine that schedule issues kept Gubler and Daniel Henney (Matt Simmons) from reprising their roles.

However, there is always a possibility they may be able to return since filming will continue through December. So hopefully, there is a possibility we will see either one of them soon! But we do miss seeing Spencer Reid on our screens.

The third episode of the series dropped on Paramount+ on Dec. 1 and we will continue to get new episodes until Dec. 15 before they go on break. Let us know how you like the show so far and if you think we’ll see Reid before the end.

December movies: 6 movies to watch (and 3 to skip) in December 2022. dark. Next
