10 Netflix documentaries coming in December 2022

It’s the holiday season which means Netflix has a lot of Christmas programming rolling out for December. However, that doesn’t mean they’re slacking in other areas of interest for their subscribers. While their documentary offerings are on the lighter side this month, there’s still plenty to choose from.

A total of 10 docufilms and series will be landing on the streamer including Robert Downey Jr.’s doc exploring his father’s life and career. Also Last Chance U: Basketball returns with its second season which reunites viewers with the East Los Angeles College Huskies a year after the start of the coronavirus pandemic.

“Sr.” (Dec. 2) – This documentary centers on Robert Downey, Sr., the late father of movie star Robert Downey, Jr., whose career as a filmmaker was an eclectic one defined by his maverick nature. “Sr.” chronicles Downey, Sr.’s life but also focuses on art, mortality, and healing generational dysfunction, as described by Netflix.

Last Chance U: Basketball season 2 (Dec. 13) – The series returns to East Los Angeles College (ELAC) a year after the pandemic brought an abrupt end to the college’s run for the championship in 2020. Now with an almost new roster of Huskies, Head coach John Mosley is eager to get these talented athletes back on the court for another shot at the ultimate victory. However, the docuseries doesn’t only focus on the highs and lows while playing. It also includes the athletes sharing their own personal struggles, family issues, mental health, homelessness and more over the course of eight episodes.
