The film centers around Kevin McCallister (Culkin), whose family accidentally leaves him behind at home while they travel to France for the holiday season. At first the young boy is happy to have his suburban Chicago house to himself, but soon realizes it’s not as great as he thinks it is. Plus, he’ll have to protect his home when two burglars, Harry (Pesci) and Marv (Stern), try to rob his house as well as the whole neighborhood. His mother Kate (O’Hara) does everything she can to get back to her son with the help of Gus Polinski (Candy), a polka band leader.
