Denzel Washington has had a long, storied career marked with achievement and a filmography filled with iconic roles. He got his start in film with the 1977 TV movie, Wilma, and has gone on to win two Academy Awards, two Golden Globes, a Tony, and a Screen Actors Guild award. The legendary working actor is also a producer and director.

For nearly 50 years, Washington has made an impact on the film industry. Refusing to be pigeonholed, his work spans genres though it does lean toward more action driven and thrilling roles. Washington has done Shakespeare for the big and small screen, embodied larger-than-life historical figures, and he’s been the man standing between someone and danger as well as the danger himself.

If you’ve ever wanted to delve into Denzel Washington’s body of work, here’s a list of movies he’s starred that can be watched online whether through a subscription or a free, ad-supported streaming service. As for his lone long-standing TV role on St. Elsewhere, all six seasons are available to stream on Hulu.

Standout films on this list include The Equalizer franchise, Fences, The Great Debaters, American Gangster, Man on Fire, John Q, Malcom X, and The Preacher’s Wife, to name a few. Washington won his first Oscar for Glory (which is available to rent/buy on Prime Video, as are his other films that can’t be found on streaming) and his second for Training Day.
