The Flash season 9 release date, cast, plot and more

The Flash season 9 finally speeds onto The CW in 2023. For the second time in its run, the series missed a Fall TV premiere leaving fans to wait anxiously for the next step in Barry Allen’s journey.

Last season, the Flash team was focused on saving Iris West-Allen as her time sickness began to worsen. It’s a storyline that divided the fanbase on the quality of season 8, given the handling of the plot and the disjointedness of the season’s storytelling. But, now that she’s healed and Reverse Flash has been defeated (again), it looks like she and Barry are set to be on the same page, happy, and working together once more in season 9.

Does this mean the long awaited pregnancy storyline is about to happen on The Flash? We sure hope so! The series is a veteran on The CW and it’s winding down, it’s now or never when it comes to bringing the West-Allen kids into the plot as babies and not adults. But, without confirmation on that plot, all we can do is speculate.

When does The Flash season 9 premiere?

Season 9 premieres Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2023 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW, taking over Stargirl‘s slot for the channel.

How many episodes does The Flash season 9 have?

The Flash will finish its run with a 13-episode final season. This is the shortest episode count of any season that has aired for the show.

Is this The Flash’s final season?

Yes, this is the last season of the beloved series.

When is The Flash season 9 coming to Netflix?

For international Netflix subscribers, new episodes of the series will premiere on Thursday, Feb. 9. US subscribers will have to wait until after the series finale. Typically, full seasons of CW shows a part of the previous Netflix deal land eight days after the finale airs on the network. With the short season that could mean season 9 will make its Netflix premiere in May or June 2023. We’ll keep you posted on an official streaming release date.

"According to the official synopsis, Season 9 picks up one week after the Reverse Flash was defeated, and Barry and Iris are reconnecting. “But when a deadly group of Rogues descends on Central City led by a powerful new threat, The Flash and his team… must once again defy impossible odds to save the day,” the logline describes. “A deadly new adversary rises to challenge Barry Allen’s heroic legacy.
