As far as entertainment goes, 2022 has been a big year. In particular, Disney+ added a lot of original content. From TV shows to movies and specials, the platform has seemingly gotten bigger than any of us imagined. While the fan reaction has been mixed, 2022 gave us an idea of what the slate of upcoming releases could look like.

However, we’re getting ahead of ourselves as there are still some 2022 additions to talk about rather than looking ahead to the future. This year still has some time left and Disney+ is making sure you have something to enjoy until the new year begins.

If you’re looking for something to watch over the holiday weekend, these Disney+ releases are worth looking into.

New on Disney+ this weekend

Oddly enough, Disney is keeping things consistent and only released projects on two days this week. Even so, let’s get into the releases if you’re looking to get caught up on some new Disney+ projects.

  • Ancient X Files, Season 2 episodes (Dec. 21)
  • Born in Africa, Season 1 (Dec. 21)
  • Danger Decoded, Season 1 (Dec. 21)
  • The Flagmakers (Dec.21)
  • Port Protection Alaska, Seasons 1-5 (Dec. 21)
  • National Treasure: Edge of History, Episode 3 (Dec. 21)
  • Sumo Do, Sumo Don’t, Episode 10 (Dec. 21)
  • Willow, Episode 5 (Dec. 21)
  • From the Ashes (Dec. 23)
  • Jaguar Beach Battle (Dec. 23)
  • Little Giant (Dec. 23)

As previously mentioned, Disney+ is really making sure there are plenty of original TV shows to enjoy including revamped versions of beloved classics including the National Treasure series and Willow. In particular, the reviews for Willow have been pretty good, and considering that the original film is available to stream too, all you really have to do is swatch the original and then jump into the show.

The same can be said about the National Treasure series, too although let’s be real. The movies in that series are a delight regardless. No matter what you decide, Disney+ should have something to keep you entertained this holiday weekend.
