The mother of all schemes was hatched on Jan. 2’s episode of The Bold and the Beautiful and it even involved a blood pact. When the writers for the soap decided they were going to pair Sheila Carter and Bill Spencer together, they clearly had every intention on not holding back with the two.

For as much as Steffy yelled at her former father-in-law and ex to snap out of it, he wouldn’t budge. Seems Sheila has him wrapped around her finger. Though, honestly, I’m skeptical the feeling is mutual. It couldn’t have been more than a few days that they’ve been established as a couple, but you’d have thought Sheila’s been working on him for weeks.

And maybe she has. Before she parted ways with Deacon, he’d mentioned that she’d been spending far too much time outside of the apartment. He had no idea where she kept leaving to and she didn’t disclose her whereabouts. Perhaps she was sneaking to see Bill, disguised of course, so she could grease the wheels for her when she’d come clean to him about her identity and enact her plan.

Who knows at this point and it doesn’t seem like we’ll be getting a flashback to fill in the blanks. But regardless, I’m intrigued by this plot especially since there’s no telling what will happen next. Here’s the full recap of events for Jan. 2’s episode.

The Bold and the Beautiful recap (Jan. 2)

Monday treated us to more cyclical conversation in Steffy and Finn’s living room. Try as she might, Steffy couldn’t get Bill to see reason. He’s firmly caught in Sheila’s web and that’s exactly where he wants to be much to Steffy’s dismay. I have to note though that it was funny watching her tip toe around her past with Bill in Finn’s presence.

Steffy was trying to keep a tight lid on her history with her father-in-law but to no avail. After Bill and Sheila saw themselves out, Finn asked the question his wife hoped he wouldn’t: Why did Taylor shoot Bill? This forced Steffy’s hand and she had to open up.

She told him the CliffNote’s version. At the time, Bill and Liam were having issues. She’d been acting as a mediator for the two of them, trying to keep the peace. But when she “found out” Liam kissed another woman, she spiraled. So upset that she wasn’t thinking clearly, she allowed Bill’s comfort to turn into something it shouldn’t have and they slept together.

Let me tell you the whole story. Bill and Liam were at odds because of Sally Spectra. Liam wasn’t a fan of how his dad was treating the young designer. Dollar Bill was trying to oust her out of the building her fashion firm was located in because he wanted to build Spencer Tower. Eventually, he got his way, but when he went to demolish the building, he’d been unaware that Liam and Sally were inside.

Thinking they were going to die, Sally told Liam that she loves him and the two shared a kiss. Guilt ridden, Liam told Steffy what happened. She wasn’t only devastated because her husband cheated, there was the added layer that Sally was her nemesis and had stolen tens of thousands of dollars from Forrester Creations and Steffy had repeatedly asked Liam to cut ties with Sally.

She felt betrayed and she left their home to think. Bill came to see her at the guest house on Eric’s property and while he was comforting her, their old spark–which Steffy had extinguished years ago when she fell in love with Liam–ignited.

Their night of passion was a mistake that she regretted as soon as she came to her senses. Steffy intended to leave it buried in the past but when she learned she was pregnant, she had to get a paternity test to see whether Bill or Liam was her baby’s father. The test showed that Liam fathered her child, but she neglected to get rid of the evidence of her betrayal and he found it in her purse. Thus marked the beginning of the end for Steffy and Liam aka Steam.

Taylor shot Bill because Ridge led her to believe that their daughter had been raped by the CEO. She also hadn’t been in a great place mentally which is why she’d reacted so violently out of character and left the man for dead in his own home. A whole lot of drama unfolded after that but that’s essentially what you may have missed on The Bold and the Beautiful years ago.

Fast forward to the present and Finn did what he always does. While he was visibly angered by Steffy’s story, he put the blame solely on Bill’s shoulders. Finn assured her that he wouldn’t let the revelation come between them and that he was glad she was open and honest with him. She did so under duress and because she’d been blindsided, but I guess Finn sees the situation differently.

Judging from past peeks at Finn’s anger issues, I have a feeling he isn’t going to let what he now knows go especially given the plot Sheila and Bill are cooking up. Steffy wants to protect her mom, and I doubt Finn’s going to disrespect her wishes, but he’s determined to keep his family safe so one way or another he’s going to ensure his mom is placed behind bars.

These two are going to be shocked to learn that Bill and Sheila beat them to it. After Liam and Wyatt finished their amateur detective work at the Spencer Mansion and were urged to leave the premises by Detective Baker, the newly introduced odd couple came back to an empty home. While there they went over the plan they’d concocted sometime during the past few days when they began living together.

They’d already secured Sinn’s silence not only about Sheila pressing charges but also their relationship status. It’s unclear whether or not the couple wanted Liam and Wyatt to find Sheila’s wig and earring at Bill’s place, but the police were already on high alert that Sheila had been at the mansion thanks to his son.

From what they’d gleaned from the guard at the gate, their father had left the property, but his windows were so tinted that it wasn’t possible to see if he was alone in his vehicle. The security footage also couldn’t be viewed because the entire grid had gone down even the back-up. All Liam and Wyatt could do was call the authorities and then let them handle the situation.

When Sheila and Bill arrived back at the estate, it was empty. Bill reminded her that in order for her to become a free woman, she had to be all in on their plan. Sheila was nervous, but he reassured her that he’d do everything in his power to get her out.

To ensure that she’s efficiently got her claws in Bill, Sheila told him that she loves him. She also pricked her thumb on his sword, which she reminded him is a symbol of power, smeared the blood on her lip and then kissed Bill. Essentially, that was a blood pact, they’re in this together now.

Making quick work of getting the police to his house, Bill started phase one of their plan. While he pretended to hold Sheila captive when they arrived, he held her hands for comfort. Then he let them take her away. These two are putting a lot of trust in each other, I can’t wait to see if it’ll pay off. Until next time, Bold fans. Stay beautiful!
