New Amsterdam Season 5: Did Max choose Helen or Elizabeth?

Max had a choice to make in New Amsterdam Season 5, Episode 11. Would he meet Helen at the bar, or would he pick Elizabeth?

We left Max in 2022 with a big decision to make. Just as he and Elizabeth started their relationship, Max learned that Helen was back in New York. She hadn’t told him this. Instead, she was on the TV, which was certainly a shock to the system.

The promo for the new episode made it clear that Max would need to make a choice. Helen was going to text him to meet, and Max would need to decide if he was going to go for closure or choose Elizabeth. Would he even pick Helen over Elizabeth in the end?

He made a choice by the end of the episode. Who did he pick, and was it the right decision?

Who did Max choose in New Amsterdam Season 5?

While out in the woods, Max made it clear that he didn’t know who to pick. As he abseiled, the choice came to him. Once the emergency was taken care of, Max was able to show Elizabeth the texts that Helen had sent him.

Elizabeth understood that Helen being back was a shock. She wasn’t angry at the way Max reacted when he saw her. However, she made it clear that she wouldn’t be a part of the romance drama. She couldn’t do that, and she needed Max to make a choice. That was a fair request, but it left Max uncertain for a while.

In the end, Max figured it all out. While he did go to the bar, he didn’t go in. He just watched Helen sit at the bar and then he left. Helen didn’t even see that he had been there. Instead, Max chose Elizabeth.

Fans are divided. If this wasn’t the final season, we could possibly get behind the relationship. The problem is it’s come so fast, and we were promised some great Sharpwin moments in New Amsterdam Season 5 and haven’t received them. Instead, we’ve had a breakup. What happened behind the scenes for something like this to happen?

Plus, I just think Max needs to be single for some time. There are a lot of problems with him rushing from one relationship to another, but that’s a problem with a lot of people in the world. There’s nothing wrong with being single for some time!
