Netflix cancels Inside Job, reversing renewal season 2 order

Stop us if you’ve heard this before, a major streaming service has decided to reverse a previously given renewal resulting in a show’s unexpected cancellation. It’s a narrative that’s beginning to become all too normal for streaming services these days and Netflix is the latest streamer to cancel a previously announced renewal order.

Netflix has officially canceled Inside Job following one season, reversing the renewal it had previously given to the adult animated series.

As fans will recall, Inside Job debuted in October 2021 with a batch of ten episodes. The show returned in November 2022 with the second part of what will now be its sole season. Before returning for eight additional episodes in 2022, it was announced the show had been renewed for a second season. Sadly, the show now joins a growing list of shows to be canceled after being officially renewed.

Netflix cancels Inside Job: Creator reacts

As rumors of Inside Job‘s cancellation began to trickle out, series creator Shion Takeuchi took to Twitter to confirm the show had indeed been canceled.

“I’m sorry guys, it’s true. I’m heartbroken to confirm that Netflix has decided to cancel Season 2 of Inside Job,” Takeuchi confirmed in addressing the fact that Inside Job had been canceled despite a second-season order having been handed out in June 2022.

Takeuchi continued by thanking the fans for coming along for the ride and caring as much for the characters as her.

"“To everyone who watched, thank you for coming along on the ride. Even though I’m sad, it helps to know that there’s people out there who cared just as much about these characters as me.”"

Is Inside Job season 2 happening?

Although a second season of Inside Job was announced by Netflix in June 2022, a second season of the show is not happening. Series creator Shion Takeuchi confirmed on Jan. 8 that Netflix had reversed its renewal order and was not moving forward with a second season as previously planned.
