James Gunn has made some incredible superhero movies in the past decade. He helmed the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy and made The Suicide Squad great again. He was the brains behind the script of Dawn of the Dead and wrote the Scooby-Doo duology from the early 2000s.

In a few months the director will be releasing his latest superhero flick Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. III. However, he won’t be finished with superhero movies after that film is over and done with. He still has a Superman film that he is writing, according to Variety. That means completely rebooting the Superman franchise without Henry Cavill’s involvement, sadly. That came as a shock to the fans of the 2013 film Man of Steel.

Moreover, it seems that Gunn has teased his involvement with another DC TV show. According to TVLine, Gunn hopped on Twitter to sum up an apparently busy day, writing, “My day: wrote 1/3 of an unannounced DC TV show; ok’d 100 VFX shots, did reference acting for Rocket, & gave editing notes for Vol 3; & had two big DC Studios meetings.”

What is James Gunn’s next movie?

Gunn claimed that he was working on a show that is said to be connected to his 2021 film The Suicide Squad. The project, however, still remains to be unannounced, at this moment in time.

It’s also unclear who is going to be in the cast and which characters will be seen in the series, but it can be said that if Gunn is involved, it most likely won’t disappoint.

Moreover, there is a Green Lantern series and a Batman-series spinoff centering around the Penguin that is still in development.

Mr. Gunn has proved himself adept at making superheroes fun and whimsical and it is very understandable why DC decided to give the director a bigger role in the development of their films, which is why I, personally, am excited about his next Superman film.
