Dear Edward, Apple TV+’s first new original of February 2023, tells the story of a 12 year old boy named Edward Adler (Colin O’Brien) who’s the sole survivor of a plane crash that killed every other passenger onboard including his family.

The series is adapted from the critically acclaimed novel by Ann Napolitano. While Edward is the focus of much of the story, the show also follows a diverse ensemble of characters who’ve been affected by the tragedy.

They’re all trying to find a way forward as they contend with their new normal, attempt to make sense of their loss, and grieve when there aren’t many people who understand what they’re going through. It’s because of this that unexpected friendships and romances are formed as well as a community for these characters.

Dear Edward is described by the streamer as thus: “[A] heartbreaking, life-affirming and uplifting story about survival, resilience, connection and the examination of what makes us human.” So be prepared for a tearjerker and a 10 episode season that resonates.

The show will premiere Friday, Feb. 3, 2023 at 12:01 a.m. PT/3:01 a.m. ET on Apple TV+. Subscribers can expect a three episode debut. Subsequent episodes will release weekly on Fridays at the same premiere time.

Dear Edward  was showrun, written, and executive produced by Jason Katims (Friday Night Lights). The show stars Colin O’Brien, Taylor Schilling, Connie Britton, Amy Forsyth, Eva Ariel Binder, Brittany S. Hall, Idris Debrand, Carter Hudson, Maxwell Jenkins, Jenna Qureshi, Audrey Corsa, Anna Uzele, Ivan Shaw and Dario Ladani Sanchez.
