A new mystery has landed on Freeform to thrill audiences as they follow the twists and turns of a plot unfolding in an old (and creepy) residential building. The Watchful Eye follows Elena Santos (Mariel Molino), a young woman who’s been hired as a live-in nanny by handsome widower, and self-made architect, Matthew (Warren Christie) to care for his son, Jasper (Henry Joseph Samiri). The two are dealing with a tremendous loss and it’s Matthew’s hope that Elena can help his withdrawn child.
Elena, however, isn’t at The Greybourne because she loves working with kids or has any interest in childcare. In the bowels of this landmark Manhattan apartment building lies a treasure that’s been lost and she intends on finding it. With the help of her boyfriend, Scott, Elena has lied her way into the position that will give her ample opportunity to find said treasure.
But, as she looks, Elena will find that there’s more happening at The Greybourne than she could have ever known. Not to mention the death of Matthew’s wife may not be so cut and dry. One things for sure, in her quest for a fortune, Elena may be biting off more than she can chew.
The Watchful Eye is the kind of story that’ll leave you wondering if it’s adapted from a page turner. But is the show a live-action iteration of a well-crafted mystery thriller? Here’s what we know!
Is The Watchful Eye based on a book?
No, the series isn’t based on a book. It’s from the brilliant mind of Julie Durk, the executive producer of Netflix’s Grace and Frankie. Aside from creating the Freeform series, Durk also serves as a consultant. Emily Fox (Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist) is the showrunner and an executive producer. The show is from Ryan Seacrest Productions.
