One of the most highly anticipated movies of 2023 swims to theaters this May, and all ages across the globe will no doubt be going out to watch this one. The Little Mermaid, Rob Marshall’s live-action adaptation of one of the most classic Disney stories ever, will see singer/actress Halle Bailey in the leading role as Ariel, a young mermaid who trades her voice for the chance to leave the ocean for the human world.

Joining Bailey in the star-studded cast includes big names like Melissa McCarthy as Ursula, Javier Bardem as King Triton, Daveed Diggs as Sebastian, Awkwafina as Scuttle, and Jacob Tremblay as Flounder. Up-and-coming English actor Jonah Hauer-King will portray Eric, Ariel’s love interest on land. The first teaser trailer debuted this past fall and has since raked up over 27 million views on the Walt Disney Studios YouTube channel. We cannot wait to hear all the amazing music and see the gorgeous scenes from The Little Mermaid!

If you’re also counting down the days until you can watch The Little Mermaid in theaters, you’re probably wondering when you’ll be able to purchase tickets to go and see it. At the time of this writing, tickets are not yet available but we do have a good prediction for when they will be.

When to buy The Little Mermaid movie theater tickets

Update: April 26, 2023 – Tickets are now on sale!

Traditionally, ticket sales for most big movies begin one month ahead of the theatrical release date. The Little Mermaid is slated for a May 26, 2023 premiere in the United States, meaning you’ll most likely be able to start purchasing tickets in the U.S. around April 26, 2023. That’s a little ways from now, so make sure you mark your calendar so you don’t forget!

We were expecting a new teaser for The Little Mermaid to drop during the Super Bowl on Feb. 12, but that, unfortunately, didn’t happen. According to Deadline, Disney had a lineup for the big game commercials, including Marvel movies Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

What are you excited to see most from the new Little Mermaid movie? Don’t miss it this May.
