Amber Portwood breaks down over ‘trauma’ in new Teen Mom: Family Reunion episode

Teen Mom: Family Reunion season 2 continued this week on MTV, giving fans a glimpse into the lives of the beloved cast members. Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra returned, while Amber Portwood got emotional over her children and past traumatic experiences. If you haven’t tuned in to the new episodes yet, which aired on February 14, we’re here to catch you up on all things Amber.

Fans of the long-running franchise first know Amber from 16 and Pregnant, the series that started it all. She then became a main cast member of Teen Mom and Teen Mom OG, where viewers got to watch all of the ups in downs in her life, from her relationships and parenting to substance abuse and trouble with the law.

In January 2022, the 32-year-old reality star returned to our screens with the Teen Mom spinoff Teen Mom: Family Reunion, which sees several cast members of the franchise in one place.

In a February 14 episode of Teen Mom: Family Reunion, as reported by The Sun, Amber confided in psychology expert Dr. Cheyenne Bryant, where she let her feelings out. Sadly, Amber broke down while talking about her children, specifically her son James. The scene comes shortly after she learned the news she would be losing custody of him to her ex, Andrew Glennon.

In the heartbreaking scene, Amber cries to Dr. Bryant and reveals what she would say to James if she could. “I didn’t fail you,” she repeats, after telling Dr. Bryant that she has “a lot of trauma.”

“I never gave up,” Amber cries, “And I’m still not giving up.”

Amber is the mom to 14-year-old Leah Leann Shirley, who she shares with Gary Shirley, as well as James Andrew Glennon, who is currently four years old. Fans hope that, as always, things start to look up for Amber.
