We all know the puzzle video game, Tetris. It’s very popular and has had many iterations since its conception. Well, the backstory behind bringing the game to life and to the world. That’s what Apple TV+‘s new film, Tetris, will explore. Be on the lookout for it Friday, March 31, 2023.

The movie stars Taron Egerton in the lead role as Henk Rogers, Nikita Efremov as Alexey Pajitnov, Toby Jones as Robert Stein, Sofia Lebedeva as Sasha, Anthony Boyle as Kevin Maxwell, and Ben Miles as Howard Lincoln.

Behind the scenes, the production is directed by Jon S. Baird, with the script penned by Noah Pink. Producers on the project include Matthew Vaughn, Gillian Berrie, Claudia Vaughn, Len Blavatnik, and Gregor Cameron. The two lead actors, Egerton, Pajitnov, as well as Zygi Kamasa, Carlos Peres, Iain Mackenzie, Noah Pink, Danny Cohen, Amanda Ghost, Vince Holden, Henk Rogers, and Maya Rogers executive produce.

What is Tetris on Apple TV+ about?

The biographical drama film is based on true events centered around the real-life Henk Rogers and Alexey Pajitnov. It’s all just about a video game, right? There’s no risk to life with it. Actually, wrong!

The story introduces us to Henk, who risks his life to outsmart the KGB, per the synopsis. That’s because he wants to introduce Tetris to the world and make it popular. In 1988, the American video game salesman discovers the game, and goes all the way to Russia to get help from inventor Alexey to do so. But doing so may not be as easy as he’d hoped, as the trailer shows. That’s because the Soviet Union owns the rights to it. Check out the video below:
