After weeks of waiting, Bob’s Burgers is back with new episodes. The only drawback is there wasn’t a Valentine’s Day episode this year.

Aside from that, the small hiatus was the perfect time to get caught up on episodes you might have missed or to attempt rewatching. Regardless, if you’re not caught up on Bob’s Burgers, then I really don’t know what to say.

Additionally, we also find out that Bob’s Burgers is renewed for two more seasons on Fox which is more than exciting. In a way, it feels like the Bob’s Burgers Movie really did rejuvenate the series as a whole which is a feat most animated series can’t pull off.

However, we’re here to talk about the latest season 13 episode which is “Oh Row You Didn’t” which features a special guest so let’s get into it.

Here’s what happened on the Bob’s Burgers episode, “Oh Row You Didn’t.”

Before getting into the plot details, there will be spoilers from this point on. If you haven’t watched, be sure to watch the episode and then come back.

The episode begins with the family, aside from Gene, working in the restaurant and Bob watching a video about Quincy Cox as he’s about to come to visit Bob’s Burgers. Gene comes in and says he’s quitting the origami club but Linda convinces him to go again.

When Quincy shows up, he immediately dives into the burger and starts crying because he’s quitting his row across the world due to loving the burger so much. To try and make him change his mind, Linda tells Bob to motivate him and change his mind again. The family keeps trying and they motivate him again until the reporter shows up.

The family tries to help Quincy out, but he hears back from his publicist who tells him that he needs to move his boat. He immediately says to throw it in the garbage which the reporter questions while Bob and Gene go get Quincy’s boat. At the restaurant, Quincy is having a breakdown. Meanwhile, Bob has to row Quincy’s boat to the dock so it won’t get towed.

Everyone decides to go find Bob and Quincy realizes that maybe seeing Bob in the boat is making him decide not to quit. The episode ends with Bob explaining to Gene the best things aren’t always the easiest and a month later, they find out Quincy achieved his goal.

Was “Oh Row You Didn’t” a bop or flop for Bob’s Burgers’ 250th episode?

Firstly, I didn’t realize this was the show’s 250th episode which is amazing. Even so, it does bring up the question of “Oh Row You Didn’t” felt like an episode deserving of such a milestone. Let’s get into the good parts of the episode first before getting into my opinion on that.

On the whole, this episode was a lot of fun. There was the special guest of Rhys Darby voicing Quincy which I wasn’t expecting. Additionally, it ended up being an episode where the family was mostly in the restaurant together which is a rarity. We also saw Gene and Bob paired off together which is another rarity. Lastly, the lesson at the end of the episode was something we haven’t really seen explored with Gene yet which I adored.

As for some of the weaker moments, it did feel like Gene’s plotline was shoehorned in there a bit but it made sense for the “lesson” of the episode. The only other issue I had was that the episode felt very low stakes. Usually, with something like a reporter coming in, there is a lot more hoopla and things going on but “Oh Row You Didn’t” felt a bit more muted in tone. Regardless, it wasn’t a bad episode in general.

Now is the big question, which is if I felt like this episode was deserving of being the 250th. In my opinion, I really don’t think this episode was all that special. Aside from the amazing guest star, I feel like other milestone episodes were better including “Glued, Where’s My Bob?” and “Something Old, Something New, Something Bob Caters for You.” Either way, it’s just my opinion but I feel like “Oh Row You Didn’t” won’t stand the test of time.

Bob’s Burgers airs Sundays on Fox at 9/8c.
