When do Spirited Away: Live on Stage movie tickets go on sale?

We’ve been eyeballing Spirited Away‘s upcoming stage play–Spirited Away: Live on Stage–for so long now that we can barely hold back our excitement for the release.

So far, we know that stage play is arriving in America in April 2023. And while it won’t be in the form of a theatrical production, we are still just as thrilled to see the play on the big screen. Movie tickets are available now for Spirited Away: Live on Stage. Moviegoers can anticipate two showings, labeled as Fathom Events on Fandango. You’ll have the opportunity to watch the film (in Japanese, with English subtitles) on Sunday, April 23 and Thursday, April 27. Showtimes may vary depending on theater, location, and region, so make sure to check your local theater for available time slots. The film is 2 hours, 55 minutes and is rated PG.

What will the Spirited Away: Live on Stage be about?

Spirited Away‘s stage play will follow Chihiro’s journey through a magical society where monsters thrive. Since she’s a human being, Chihiro has to find her way back home before the magic catches up to her and turns her into something supernatural. Along the way, Chihiro learns many life lessons, including how to embrace change and keep a positive outlook on scary situations.

The stage play will depict this story in its own way, so expect some unique changes to the characters and setting! (It won’t stray too far away from Hayao Miyazaki’s masterpiece, of course!)
