The Walker Independence season 1 finale, “Let Him Hang,” was an amazing hour of television that put more than one life in danger.

Coming off the tail of the season’s penultimate episode, viewers knew Gus’ life hung in the balance after shots rang out in the barn he’d found the Davidson brothers in. Did he survive? And what about the Tom and Shane? They’d been bloodied by each others’ hands and Gus’ aim rang true before he fell himself.

Who died and who survived the finale? Here’s what we know!

Does Gus die in Walker Independence?

Fortunately, no. He was gravely wounded, but Abby found him in the barn and brought him back to town where his found family worked together to save his life. Kai was able to dig the bullet from his wound and Calian cauterized it. Though he was in immense pain, Gus managed to help them bring Tom to justice and looked to be making a recovery as the finale ended.

Does Shane die in Walker Independence?

Yes. He’d already sustained injuries from when Tom had tortured him, and it didn’t help matters that Gus shot him as well. With Tom’s help, he escaped the barn, but he was bleeding profusely. The two thought Gus was dead, and Tom realized that Shane wasn’t long for this world. He knew someone had to take the fall for Gus’ death, so he killed his brother in the hopes of creating a cover up that would clear his own name.

Does Tom die in Walker Independence?

Tom was injured but not severely enough to die, though he still needed medical attention. That was provided to him after an epic shoot out in town between him, Kate, Calian, Hoyt, Abby, and Gus who was recovering from his own wounds.

Later, the group was certain that Tom would face his day in court and hang for his crimes until word spread that there’s a $10,000 reward for anyone that frees him. Too bad the man minding him in the carriage had a tattoo he’s familiar with. It’s a circle on his hand, similar to the one on the hand of a man he killed. Tom got bashed in the face, which knocked him out, but as the end of the finale revealed, he’s not in any mortal danger at the moment. His father’s the one who arranged for him to be set free.
