History buffs and comedy lovers rejoice. The long awaited follow up to Mel Brook’s The History of the World Part 2 is soon to drop on Hulu, to enlighten the masses on the many trials and tribulations within the memories of human civilization. The question remains though, just how many episodes can we expect The History of the World Part 2 to be? Read on to find out.

Released in 1981, The History of the World Part 1 was one of legendary comedian Mel Brooks’s finest and funniest films. However, unlike his previous works such as Young Frankenstein and Blazing Saddles, which parodied a specific genre of film with a single storyline, The History of the World Part 1 was essentially a collection of comedic sketches, bringing Brooks’s sarcastic stylings to various historical events, hopping from cavemen, to Moses on the mountain, to the going-ons of Rome, and so on.

How many episodes will The History of the World Part 2 have?

The History of the World Part 2 promises to be of this vein, though far wider in scope with more historical figures to enjoy. Whereas Part 1 was a feature length film, clocking in at 1 hour and 32 minutes, the trailer for The History of the World Part 2 suggests it will be a far larger compilation, stating it to be a “Four Night Event”.

This might lead you to believe that The History of the World Part 2 will be just four episodes in length. However, if you go on to the IMDb page for the series and go to the full cast and crew section,  you can see that, for instance, Mel Brooks’s is credited with writing 8 episodes. This would likely mean that 2 episodes will be premiering each day of the “Four Night Event”, and my guess is that each episode will clock in at around half an hour. That’s four hours of side-splitting Brooks comedy gold!

The History of the World Part 2 premieres this Monday, March 6, on Hulu.
