New Girl was one of the most popular sitcoms when it was on television! And like many shows that would be added to Netflix, it gained a new audience and following as well. But there’s some sad news – the series will be pulled from the streamer soon.

The show starred Zooey Deschanel as Jess, Jake Johnson as Nick, Max Greenfield as Schmidt, Lamorne Morris as Winston, and Hannah Simone as Cece. The series made its television debut in September 2011 and ran for seven seasons. It came to an end in 2018.

The comedy introduces us to Jess who has just gone through a bad breakup. Because of this, she needs to find a new home. The spot comes in the form of a great spot, but the catch is that she has to share it with three single guys she doesn’t know – Nick, Schmidt, and Winston. As the story progresses, the four L.A. young adults form a family of sorts, as well as Jess’ childhood best friend CeCe.

So why is the series moving? Where will you be able to stream it afterwards? We’ve got the answer for you below!

Why is New Girl leaving Netflix?

Netflix first got the streaming rights to New Girl in 2013, almost 10 years ago. It’s been on the platform for so long, so why won’t it be on the streamer anymore? That’s because Netflix isn’t the original production company for the show. That was 20th Television, which is owned by The Walt Disney Company. The series originally aired on FOX when it was on TV. So eventually, streaming rights do expire and that’s what happened with Netflix in this case.

Where is New Girl streaming?

Starting on Monday, April 17, 2023, New Girl is not getting just getting one new streaming home, but two! Fans of the show will be able to watch all seven seasons, which is a total of 146 episodes, on both Hulu and Peacock that day. The two companies came to a shared agreement, even though The Walt Disney Company, which owns Hulu, holds the production rights.
