You Hurt My Feelings release date, cast, trailer and more

A new comedy by A24 is coming our way this summer! You Hurt My Feelings was written, directed, and produced by Nicole Holofcener. The film is also produced by Anthony Bregman, Stefanie Azpiazu, and Julia Louis-Dreyfu.

The production made its debut earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2023. And now, moviegoers will finally have the chance to see it. Here’s everything we know ahead of its release!

You Hurt My Feelings will make its theatrical release on Friday, May 26, 2023. At the time of this writing, a streaming and on-demand release date has not been announced. Since A24 is an independent entertainment company, it doesn’t have its own streaming service. The movie could come to HBO Max, Prime Video, or another platform. Right now we don’t know where it will land exactly.

You Hurt My Feelings synopsis

The movie is centered around Beth who is a novelist and her husband Don. They’ve been married for many years and are happy. But it’s “suddenly upended” when Beth overhears that her significant other doesn’t really like her latest book, per the synopsis. The film is about trust, lies, and the things we say to the people we love most, A24 shares.

You Hurt My Feelings cast

Taking on the role of Beth is award-winning actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus. You may recognize the star from Saturday Night Live, Elaine Benes from Seinfeld, and Selina Meyer from Veep.

Tobias Menzies plays Beth’s husband, Don. The actor is known for playing  Jonathan “Black Jack” Randall/Frank Randall in Outlander, Edmure Tully in Game of Thrones, and Prince Philip in The Crown. Check out the full cast list below with character descriptions per A24:

• Arian Moayed as Mark, Sarah’s actor husband who gets a Broadway role that turns into a nightmare.
• Owen Teague as Eliot, Beth and and Don’s young adult son who wants to show his mom that he’s not perfect, just like everybody else.
• Jeannie Berlin as Georgia, Beth’s bad-tempered mother.
