The Way Home has concluded its freshman run on the Hallmark Channel, and now it’s time for the network to focus on a new authentically original series. Ride premiered Sunday, March 26 at 9 p.m. ET, sliding into the timeslot of its predecessor and introducing viewers to the McMurray family. Once again we were dropped into a plot involving a small town but instead of the setting being a Canadian farm, it was a ranch in Colorado.

The season opener, “Legend of the Fall,” foreshadowed the events to come, but if you haven’t had the opportunity to watch the show’s premiere, here’s what to expect before you dive into its plot!

What is Ride about on Hallmark Channel?

As mentioned above, the series follows the McMurray family who are led by their matriarch, Isabel, whose had to run the ranch and raise her three sons on her own since the loss of her husband. Her boys are grown now and her eldest Austin has his own family in Missy, his talented wife. Cash is a serviceman and Tuff is as dependable as they come. Isabel also took in Valeria, a runaway whose found a place among their ranks.

When Ride starts, the McMurrays are in a good place, however, that changes when tragedy strikes. The loss of Austin sends the family into a tail spin and by the time we catch up with them, the ranch’s fate is in jeopardy, Valeria’s blown into town after leaving with no word, Cash is contemplating stepping up which could put his life at risk, and Missy is considering new opportunities.

If this sounds like a series you’d love, new episodes air Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on Hallmark Channel and will be available to stream next day on Peacock.
