Trolls Band Together release date, cast, synopsis, trailer and more

The wait is nearly over! Trolls 3–officially titled Trolls Band Together–hits theaters this fall. The animated Dreamworks franchise has been a fan favorite since the first film released in 2016. When we catch up with Poppy, Branch, and the rest of the gang in the third installment, they’re gearing up for Bridget and King Gristle, Jr.’s wedding. Bergens and trolls alike are attending the happy occasion, Tiny Diamond’s even set to be the flower boy…sorry, flower man.

However, the festivities are interrupted by Branch’s long lost brother, John Dory. Yes, that’s right, Branch does have family besides the grandmother he lost. In fact, he’s the youngest and they’d been in a boy band together before his siblings walked out on him. Now, he’s going to have to put his feelings on what happened to the side because his brother, Floyd, has been kidnapped by pop stars Velvet and Veneer.

Along for the ride, of course, is Poppy who sees this adventure/rescue mission as an opportunity for Branch to reconnect with his family and heal old wounds. Here’s more on the film!

The movie opens nationwide in theaters on Friday, Nov. 17, 2023.

Where will Trolls Band Together stream after theaters?

Likely on Peacock. The Dreamworks film is a joint production with Universal Pictures.

When will Trolls Band Together stream on Peacock?

It depends on how well Trolls 3 does in theaters. Typically, there’s a 45 day window between a film’s theater release and its land on streaming. However, the movie is premiering before Thanksgiving and, since it’s a family title, it could be kept in theaters past that window for the rest of the holidays. As such, we could be looking at a January 2024 Peacock debut. We’ll keep you posted.

The synopsis per Deadline:

"The new film will pick up with trolls Poppy and Branch after two films of true friendship and relentless flirting, at a point when they’re now officially, finally, a couple (#broppy)! As they grow closer, Poppy discovers that Branch has a secret past. He was once part of her favorite boyband phenomenon, BroZone, with his four brothers: Floyd, John Dory, Spruce, and Clay.BroZone disbanded when Branch was still a baby, as did the family, and Branch hasn’t seen his brothers since. But when Branch’s bro Floyd is kidnapped for his musical talents by a pair of nefarious pop-star villains —Velvet and Veneer — Branch and Poppy embark on a harrowing and emotional journey to reunite the other brothers and rescue Floyd from a fate even worse than pop-culture obscurity."
