Riverdale season 7 soundtrack: All the songs that play in the season
By Sabrina Reed
Riverdale is back! The hit CW series has returned for its final season delivering a premiere sure to leave an impression not only for its incredible ’50s aesthetic but also its storytelling and soundtrack.
Episode one of season 7, “Don’t Worry, Darling,” opened with the iconic “Rock Around the Clock” by Billy Haley and His Comets, setting the mood for the show’s launch into its time-bending plot. The track is a nod to the classic sitcom Happy Days and, through the band who perform the song, a wink at the comet that got Archie and the gang in this mess in the first place.
From there the songs featured in the season premiere paint a picture of the complex times our crew are living through in 1955. You have the iconic rock and roll sound of the decade paired with the jazz tunes that make an impact whether to effect a striking tone like “Strange Fruit” by Billie Holiday when Betty sees the pictures of Emmett Till’s funeral for the first time or a melancholic atmosphere like “Bye Bye Blackbird” by Peggy Lee which can be heard in a Thornhill scene.
There’s also an anachronistic choice–“A Real Hero” by College & Electric Youth–which plays as Tabitha and Jughead kiss just as she’s erasing his memories. We expect all the songs featured throughout the season will leave an impression just like they did in the premiere.
Here’s the tracklist for each episode of Riverdale season 7. Check back every Wednesday night while the show is airing for new additions.
