Blue Beetle release date, cast, synopsis, trailer and more

Blue Beetle, the highly anticipated DC film is months away from landing in theaters. The movie, which will mark the character’s first appearance on the big screen, is a late summer release for DC Studios. Xolo Maridueña is set to portray Jaime Reyes and the beloved eponymous superhero.
The film is an origin story that sees Jaime excited about his future post-college having earned his degree and looking to step into the next phase of life. What he didn’t expect was to come across a piece of alien biotechnology known as the Scarab and have it choose him to be its host. Sure, it’s cool that Jaime now has access to an amazing suit of armor and has been endowed with incredible power but that wasn’t in his plans.
With his destiny forever changed, and it being imperative that he learn how to wield his unpredictable abilities, Jaime will be navigating his new purpose in life and stepping into the role of a hero whether he’s prepared to do so or not.
Blue Beetle release date
The film will release nationwide in theaters and IMAX on Friday, Aug. 18.
When will Blue Beetle stream on HBO Max?
We don’t have an official streaming date for the movie, however, the typical window is 45 days after release in theaters. If that window holds, subscribers could see the film hit the streamer in October. We’ll keep you posted as news comes in.

"Recent college grad Jaime Reyes returns home full of aspirations for his future, only to find that home is not quite as he left it. As he searches to find his purpose in the world, fate intervenes when Jaime unexpectedly finds himself in possession of an ancient relic of alien biotechnology: the Scarab. When the Scarab suddenly chooses Jaime to be its symbiotic host, he is bestowed with an incredible suit of armor capable of extraordinary and unpredictable powers, forever changing his destiny as he becomes the superhero Blue Beetle."
