The three-way FBI crossover was an action packed thrill ride, however, it was also filled with tension as Special Agent Nina Chase (played by Shantel VanSanten) was shot in the first hour of the crossover. She’d been helping the Fly Team storm a house in Italy where they’d tracked some terrorists. Nina went down during the mission and was hospitalized.

For fans of the flagship series who are familiar with Nina’s story, this was a stressful situation for not only them but also Special Agent Stuart Scola. The two are involved and their feelings are so deep that he initially wasn’t informed of her condition which was described as “touch and go” by TVLine. Not to mention, Nina’s injury wasn’t only a threat to her, it was one to their unborn child.

How did this play out? Here’s what we know!

Is Nina leaving FBI?

VanSanten isn’t leaving the series. While her character was in serious condition throughout the crossover, Nina didn’t die and she didn’t lose her child either. In fact, according to TVLine’s recap, once she and Scola were finally reunited, they exchanged ‘I love you’s, opening the door to more for the pair in the wake of this terrifying situation.

However, considering what Nina went through, and their higher ups’ choice to keep Scola in the dark for the greater good so he could be effective in neutralizing a grave threat, they’re likely going to have a tense discussion about field work and safety in the near future.

Given the synopsis for the next episode, “Obligation,” Scola could still be dealing with the trauma of learning what happened to Nina, how it affected him, and what it means that their child’s parents are both in a dangerous line of work. Here’s the full synopsis:

"When the deputy commander of an Air National Guard Base is kidnapped and forced to give over access codes, the team must work quickly to find the suspect along with stolen ammunition. Also, Scola questions his own safety in the aftermath of a recent traumatic experience"

While the above doesn’t have to be about Nina, there is room for it to be and fans of FBI could be seeing more fallout from the events of the crossover soon.
