The Bold and the Beautiful recap (April 5): Liam catches Hope and Thomas in a compromising position
By Sabrina Reed
Once again The Bold and the Beautiful is teasing the possibility of Thope being a credible romance on the soap, but today’s episode set the scene for Liam to become a bit more aware of his wife’s inappropriate work relationship with his rival.
To be fair, the moment he walked in on was an accident. Hope was leaning forward while teasing Thomas (in a flirty way I might add), but she misjudged her balance and went tumbling off the riser she was standing on into his arms. The pair fell onto the couch with her splayed across Thomas and in walked Liam to see the whole thing.
It was quite the compromising position Thope were in and Liam hit the roof over it. He’d just come from having lunch with his brother, Wyatt, where he’d spoken about how much he trusts Hope. His concern isn’t that she may be harboring feelings for Thomas but that his rival will over step his bounds with her as he has consistently done for years.
Liam’s been worried that he’s been too pushy about his feelings regarding the renewed partnership between Hope and Thomas so this unexpected moment isn’t going to help matters. He’s had to listen to his wife go on about the progress Thomas has been making in therapy and that he’s aware there’s nothing they share beyond work and their son, Douglas.
To Liam’s credit, he’s been trying to accept this situation, but as Wyatt pointed out, there’s nothing wrong with expressing his discomfort with it and his distrust of Thomas. Liam doesn’t believe Thomas hasn’t changed and is, in fact, incapable of it. Personally, I beg to differ, but he may need to keep more of an eye on Hope than Thomas because she was making eyes at her lead designer.
What happened on The Bold and the Beautiful today?
Prior to her dress fitting with Thomas, Brooke asked her daughter how things were going with the two. Hope explained that this is the most excited she’s been about her line in a long time and that she believed they were in a good place. Her mom was glad to hear it, but she still warned that she needed to shut things down if Thomas proves he still can’t be trusted to mind her boundaries and respect her marriage.
Brooke admires how loyal Hope is and how much she’s committed to her marriage with Liam and the life they’re building together. Sometimes she can’t even believe Hope is her child considering how much they differ when it comes to love. That’s why she put heavy emphasis on Hope not falling for the “bad boy” and how she’d never make the same choices as her. We’ll have to see how well that holds up since Hope was gazing at Thomas (unbeknownst to him) right before she popped behind the dressing screen to try on his latest design.
Hope wasn’t the only one who got a talking to from a parent, so did Thomas. When he arrived for the day, he walked in on his dad, Ridge, in the middle of sketching. It was an opportunity for him to once again apologize for what he’d done and reassure Ridge that it would never happen again. He took ownership for his behavior and explained that he wasn’t thinking about how his actions could hurt the people he loves. He was just so angry at Brooke’s threat to call CPS on him that that’s all he could see.
Thomas told Ridge that he never wants to disappoint him, Douglas, Steffy, or Taylor again. Ridge added Hope on there which led them to discuss Thomas’ feelings for her which apparently are gone. At least, that’s what he says. He has a professional relationship with Hope and they’re co-parents and that’s where he’s leaving it. To be honest, while I do believe him, I think that the feelings Hope has been repressing are coming to the surface and her family is starting to take notice.
When Thomas left the main office to be on time for his fitting with Hope, Brooke gave him and her daughter the room so that she could go check-in with Ridge. Thomas offered her the opportunity to stay so she could give feedback if she liked, but she declined. Perhaps that’s best, because if she’d stuck around she may have caught Hope reacting to Thomas’ touch.
He was a perfect gentleman asking if it was okay for him to make adjustments and he was in work mode. She was the one who seemed to be getting a little caught up which is why she brought up his feelings and how she’s not like her mom and doesn’t go for the bad boy. Like I said earlier, it was flirty and cutely in his face which could lead to her downfall (figuratively).
Across the hall, Brooke and Ridge talked about his time being Bill’s pseudo handler so they could take down Sheila. Then the conversation switched to Thomas and Hope’s partnership. Ridge had a loaded sentence about how well they work together and, paired with Brooke’s talk with Hope, it’s making me feel like these two are aware something isn’t all the way platonic with Thope.
As for Bridge, Brooke told Hope she’s sticking by what she said and is focused on herself and maintaining her friendship with Taylor. She doesn’t want anything to interfere with that not even Ridge plus she’s finally experiencing living life without being concerned about having a man. In the past, she always picked the wrong one. Now she wants to choose herself.
The coming weeks are sure to test that resolve. Until next time, Bold fans. Stay beautiful!
