Spoilers ahead of Succession season 4 episode 3

The fourth and final season of Succession has continued with the third episode, “Connor’s Wedding.” We have a huge chess match between the Roy family that has a massive impact on the family dynamic. I share my review of the episode below.

At the end of the last episode, we saw Roman head to Logan’s house without telling his brother and sister. The episode begins with a conversation between Logan and Roman about how he wants to let Geri go. Roman hesitates initially, but Logan says, “You are with me, right?” And Roman says he will take care of it.

It’s the day of Connor’s wedding, and tensions are high around the whole place. Roman is acting weird with Shiv as he is about to have to fire Geri, which he does moments later, and it doesn’t go great. I loved seeing Greg finally see the Roy kids who sprung him away like he is the enemy (he is).

Succession season 4 episode 3 bids farewell to a giant and rocks the family

While things are moving along at the wedding, Tom calls Roman to tell him that Logan isn’t doing well on the plane. He isn’t breathing, they have to do CPR on him, and Tom tells them that he’s going to put the phone to his ear to talk to him. Roman struggles to talk to him, as does Kendall; while Logan can’t talk back, Tom thinks it’s a good idea to do this because they might be the final words they say to him. Kendall rushes to get Shiv, and Shiv tries to muster up the words to talk to him.

I truly was feeling a wide range of emotions. Throughout the four seasons of this show, you get to know these characters, and sure, each of them is truly awful and hard to root for. However, in this episode, you witnessed the collapse of this family as their father, no matter how things were at the time, died. The writing of this episode was top-notch and hit emotional heights I’m not sure we’ve seen yet.

From top to bottom, the acting in this episode will likely win 2-3 acting Emmys, and each of them is worth it. This was a masterclass in acting that will be looked upon for years to come as one of the greatest ensemble performances in a singular episode.

Overall, Succession season 4 episode 3 might be one of the single greatest episodes of television history. I am completely floored and at a loss for words. I can’t believe what just happened, and it only upped the ante for what is ahead for the rest of the season.
