Suzume is the latest film from acclaimed Japanese director Makoto Shinkai. Also known as Suzume no Tojimari (Suzume’s Looking Up), the film is set to be released in select theaters and IMAX on April 14. Shinkai is a household name in anime, having directed acclaimed movies such as 5 Centimeters per Second, The Garden of Words, Your Name, and Weathering with You.

From IMDb, the plot synopsis of Suzume no Tojimari reads the following:

"“A modern action-adventure road story where a 17-year-old girl named Suzume helps a mysterious young man close doors from the outer side that are releasing disasters all over in Japan.”"

The movie was released in Japan on November 7, 2022, and received glowing reviews. It immediately became a box office success, grossing over $221.1 million worldwide and setting records as the fourth highest-grossing 2022 Japanese film and the highest-grossing Japanese film of all time in China.
