True Detective season 4 trailer coming in hot! (Everything we know about Night Country so far)
The follow-up to True Detective’s third season, True Detective: Night Country, has just unveiled its first trailer! And it is looking to be the most thrilling season yet! From the new trailer to all of the latest updates, here’s everything to know so far.
The series will be executive produced by Jodie Foster, Issa Lopez, Barry Jenkins, Adele Romanski, Mark Ceryak, Alan Page Arriaga, Mari Jo Winkler, Matthew McConaughey, Woody Harrelson, Nic Pizzolatto, and Cary Joji Fukunaga.
Lopez will also be writing and directing the series, which was originally created by Nic Pizzolatto. The series is anthological, meaning that each season follows different detectives on their own investigations. Season One starred Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, while the third starred Mahershala Ali as the lead detective. The second season teamed up Colin Farrell, Vince Vaughn, Rachel McAdams, and Taylor Kitsch.
True Detective season 4 is coming January 14, 2024
Jodie Foster and Kali Reis will be starring in the series in lead roles. Foster will be playing Detective Liz Danvers, while Reis will portray Detective Evangeline Navarro, who will have to solve a case in Ennis, Alaska. No other cast members have currently been announced.
Reis recently made her feature film debut in Catch the Fair One and received critical acclaim for her performance. As a result, she received a Special Jury Mention for Best Actress at the Tribeca Film Festival, to which it also won the Audience Award. Her performance in the film also landed her a Best Female Lead nomination at the Independent Spirit Awards.
Additionally, Jodie Foster will also be executive producing with Barry Jenkins, Adele Romanski, Mark Ceryak, Alan Page Arriaga, Mari Jo Winkler, Matthew McConaughey, Woody Harrelson, Nic Pizzolatto, and Cary Joji Fukunaga.
Night Country will arrive on Jan. 14, 2024, making it one of the first big shows of 2024 out of the gate!

"“When the long winter night falls in Ennis, Alaska, the six men that operate the Tsalal Arctic Research Station vanish without a trace. To solve the case, Detectives Liz Danvers (Foster) and Evangeline Navarro (Reis) will have to confront the darkness they carry in themselves, and dig into the haunted truths that lie buried under the eternal ice.”"
In a statement, HBO Programming’s executive Vice President Francesca Orsi said on True Detective‘s return that HBO is “tremendously excited to return to the True Detective franchise and to be working with the multi-talented Issa López, whose singular vision for her Night Country installment will be beautifully realized with Jodie Foster and Kali Reis in the starring roles.”
