School Spirits season 1: Who ends up together and who breaks up?

School Spirits is a new murder mystery on Paramount+ that’s grabbed the attention of subscribers who love a good ghost story. Paranormal dramas truly do hit the spot especially when the stakes are as high as a teen girl determining who murdered her at school. However, solving this twisting case doesn’t mean the series is devoid of romance.

We began the season with Maddie and Xavier being loved up but, of course, that came to an abrupt end due to her untimely death and then she found out he’d been cheating on her with the cheerleader, Claire. Later there seemed to be a spark coming to life between Wally and Maddie, then her relationship with Simon looked to be turning another page.

So who ended up with who? Here’s what we know!

Do Xavier and Claire break up in School Spirits?

Yes, Xavier and Claire did break up but it didn’t last. In a scheme to find out if she was involved in Maddie’s disappearance, Xavier asked her to the dance. She caught on that he’d been trying to coax a confession out of her, and she did confess but it wasn’t to what he thought.

Claire admitted that she had blackmailed Mr. Anderson because she can’t afford not to get an A, and she figured people do stuff like this all the time so why shouldn’t she benefit. But she didn’t have anything to do with what might have happened Maddie. Once she opened up to him, Claire and Xavier grew close again and got back together.

Do Maddie and Wally get together?

They’re not officially in a relationship, but they did attend the school dance together and shared a kiss. With her mind preoccupied with the mystery of her murder, Maddie hasn’t really had time to sort through her feelings for Wally even though it’s clear that he’s very much into her. Also, Maddie’s growing feelings for Simon aren’t helping matters, hence Wally’s mild jealousy over their bond.

Do Simon and Maddie get together?

The two best friends seem to be moving toward a romantic relationship. While they’ve been parted by death, the season 1 finale opened the possibility for Maddie to one day get her body back since Janet’s occupying it right now.

So perhaps the two getting together isn’t completely off the table considering Simon told Maddie that he loves her and she returned the sentiment in a heartfelt, emotional obituary that spoke to the depth of their relationship. First, however, Simon will have to start speaking to Maddie again as he’s under the impression that she’s a figment of his grief and not really a ghost.
