Do you need watch all Marvel movies before watching Guardians 3?

The Marvel Cinematic Universe continues with the upcoming release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. This is the third installment in the Guardians series and part of the larger universe. But, let’s be honest, even if you watched Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, it has been a while since we’ve kept up with the MCU. Not to mention, with all of these timelines and reveals, it’s getting more difficult to keep up with. That said, you may want to rewatch a few movies before you go out to see Guardians 3. 

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania introduced Phase 5 of the MCU. That’s exciting in itself, but James Gunn returns as director for Guardians 3, and fans love what Gunn did with the first two.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will see the Guardians adjusting to their new life after the latest events completely changed their course. The gang is now in Knowhere after parts of Rocket’s past resurface, threatening his life. Determined to protect their friend, Peter and the others embark on a mission.

Marvel movies to watch before Guardians 3

First, the two obvious movies to watch are Guardians of the Galaxy and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. These two need to be on your must-watch list if you are planning on seeing Guardians 3. No excuses.

Next up, to learn (or refresh your memory on) what happened to an important character, you need to see Avengers: Infinity War as well as Avengers: Endgame. 

Then, we have the bonus watch, Thor: Love and Thunder. Thor joined the Guardians in missions for a while before leaving the gang. It’s not essential viewing, but it’s a fun one!
