If there’s one thing Disney+ isn’t, it’s predictable. The streaming service is constantly adding new TV shows and movies to the platform.

However, the company doesn’t always add what you might imagine. I’m sure when the concept was introduced, a lot of us thought of it as just streaming Disney animated movies. The platform has grown to much more.

In terms of just originals alone, Disney+ has some great offerings but add in all the companies and brands under the umbrella, it’s mind-boggling. That’s why adding a few more this upcoming month is going to be a game-changer.

For now, we’re just focusing on the first week in May and what exciting releases are coming to Disney+.

New on Disney+

As mentioned, Disney+ isn’t afraid to get out of the “Disney” comfort zone and add some projects you might not expect so let’s get into this past week’s releases including some featured on May 4.

  • A Small Light, 2 episodes (May 2)
  • Ed Sheeran: The Sum Of It All [All Episodes] (May 3)
  • Eureka! season 1 episodes (May 3)
  • Star Wars: Visions Volume 2 premiere [All Episodes] (May 3)
  • Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures season 1, episodes 1-7 (May 3)
  • Charles: In His Own Words (May 5)
  • Entrelazados Live! (May 5)

While this first week of May wasn’t massive, there were some great releases. If you didn’t know, A Small Light follows Miep Gies who helps to hide Otto Frank and his family. It’s a mini-series on National Geographic. Meanwhile, if you’re looking for something before listening to Ed Sheeran’s new record, you can check out his docuseries.

Most notably though, the exciting releases came on May 4 with a new season of Star Wars: Visions and the premiere of Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures. Lastly, there is the coronation of Charles as King of England so if you’re interested in learning more about him, Disney+ has you covered.

This week, Disney+ has all of its target audience members covered so matter what you’re looking for, there are a lot of great options.
